I’ve recently been loaned one of the beautiful Lumia 920 window’s phones, by the kind people at Nokia and thought I’d share with you how welcome it’s visit has been so far!
This is not going to be a technical post, but just how I’ve found using it and how it looks and feels aesthetically; cause those things are hugely important too right?!
So when the Lumia 920 first arrived, I hadn’t realised I was being loaned a yellow handset and being a beauty and fashion blogger, was initially a bit concerned about whether the yellow would fit my style, coordinate with my outfits, etc. I was worrying for nothing. I think that the yellow handset, out of all of them, is actually the most stylish! The yellow is a true neon yellow and with neon being a trend this Spring/Summer, it fit’s in perfectly!
This little fella is a true delight to use. It has a 4.5 inch HD display which is really gorgeous. I simply love the smooth edges to the display, which makes searching and swiping a joy. Gotta love a round edge! The display is incredibly clear too. Photos appear crisp and clear and colours are bright and striking.
I’m always curious when people talk about how much bigger phone displays are compared to each other and I’ve been an apple fan now for about 4 years, so it was going to be interesting convincing me that another display would top my iPhone 4. But the pictures say it all.
A bigger screen really is a vast improvement on my iPhone4 and comparing the two side by side, it really does look more impressive. I know that the iPhone5 display is bigger than the 4 but I believe the Lumia 920 is bigger still. Go Nokia!
The display is not only bigger but I actually prefer the colours and general appearance on the Lumia. It makes ithe apps look and feel more ‘polished’ some how. Not having used a Windows phone before, I wasn’t sure what to expect from the apps but so far I’ve been pleasantly surprised and have been able to find a windows app to cover everything I had an app for on my iPhone.
Twitter and Pinterest are two apps I spend a lot of time on and the ‘Twitter’ and ‘Pinstation’ apps on Windows are brilliant! The visibility is clearer and especially with ‘Pinstation’ I much prefer the layout and aesthetics of it, making for a much more pleasant user experience.
Being a fashion conscious kinda girl, I wondered how well the Lumia 920 would fit in with my style and fashion choices. More importantly, how it would enjoy resting in my many handbags!
The Lumia felt right at home. With it’s colour clashing yellow, it actually made it a whole lot easier to find in my bag and actually, with clashing colours being pretty fashionable right now, it feels right on trend.
So very quickly, this little Lumia has become part of my life, slotting in just perfectly. I’ve begun using it for everything that I would my iPhone4 and on odd occasion when I’ve need to check my iPhone for something, it’s felt slow and clumsy. This really is testament to how far Nokia phones have come, as I never thought I have a Nokia phone again, however, I’m feeling rather convinced that this may no longer be the case!
Taking photos on the Lumia 920 has been a dream. As a mum, I take photos of my daughter Grace constantly and this phone has made the experience all the more pleasurable.
The colours are captured perfectly and the ‘Smart Shoot’ app makes taking photos of children especially, so much easier! It takes a series of photos in a row and you can choose the best one! So you never miss that special moment. Genius!
If I’ve still got a Lumia 920 (which I hope I will), by Grace’s 2nd birthday, this will be perfect for the blowing out the candles on the cake moment!
I’ve tried the camera with my daughter in various situations, light & dark, being still and running around and each time, I’ve managed to catch a super moment. And the pictures themselves are more realistic in colour, not like the iPhone4 which tends to falsely brighten photos some how. I always like photos to look as natural as possible, but with a little help when needed in particularly dark situations for example. The Lumia 920 seems to grasp that concept perfectly and delivers on quality every time.
It has to be said though; it’s not just me that’s smitten, little Grace is too. I can’t stop her wanting to fiddle with it!
I’m looking forward to seeing how I get on with the Lumia 920 for the rest of it’s stay, but so far so good and it’s welcome to stay again any time it likes!
Do you use a Windows phone? Have you tried the Lumia 920? Would love to hear from you.
