Modern v's vintage girliness

You’ve either got a beautiful dressing table area or want one and if you’re like me, you’ve quite recently bought a pretty dressing table and already feel it could be improved upon!

A little personal space for all your makeup, cosmetic and hair products is a girls prerogative. Right? Well, my husband would possibly disagree. I’m sure he thinks it just takes up too much space in our bedroom and tells me “you never really use it anyway”; um, you only think that because you’re already at work when I get ready in the morning. Duh! So yes, it’s our prerogative. And, if we want our dressing table to be super pretty, girlie and frivolous, that’s our prerogative too!

Some of my favourite dressing table inspirations right now are shelving areas with lots of nick nacks & vases of flowers, bottles and jars, not with anything necessarily in them, candles that I’ll probably never light and jewels draped over the mirror and around the work space, probably so I can’t actually see in the mirror properly. Maybe not the most useful, but they all look so pretty!

I also love the mixture of old v’s modern. I love clean lines to a dresser but also love the vintage style, with intricate handles and curved legs. Mine is a style of old v’s new. It is white with antique style curved legs, two drawers with modern glass nobs and a glass table top, which is perfect in case of any spillages. I love my dressing table, I just wish it was bigger….. so I could fit all those frivolous items onto it!

What is your dressing table area like? Is it packed or sparse?

Great pictures, I have a vintage style one. It’s cream with lots of detail and a lovely mirror to match, but I had an unfortunate accident with some nail varnish remover so now I have a horrible looking patch on the top :( The glass is a great idea!

Thank you! That sounds beautiful but such a shame about the spillage. Is there any way you can rub it down and re paint? Maybe shabby chic style? The glass top on mine is a life saver!! Came as part of it and I was looking for one like it, so lucky I found one. Was from m&s believe it or not!x

I’m lucky enough to have the space in my current bedroom for one, but it’s the first time since I was tiny and living at home with my parents. Is a real treat! x
