Beauty | Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion

As you may know, this little beauty was on my Christmas wish list and my little Christmas fairy (aka my gorgeous sister Elizabeth), made my Christmas wish come true! I’d been lusting after the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion, available from here for £15, for quite a while and never quite got around to buying it. What’s wrong with me, right?!

This primer from Urban Decay has become quite legendary in the beauty industry, being used and praised by makeup artists and makeup junkies alike. This magic potion guarantees more vibrant eyeshadow that lasts all day and never creases. Yep, they say NEVER creases! Amazing or too good to be true?

Previously, I’ve used a few other eye primers but whilst they seem to have made the eyeshadow stay quite firmly at first, they never seem to make the duration of the day or night. So when I received this at Christmas I was really excited to try it and see whether it lives up to it’s hype!

So what did I think?

initially impressions of the tube is that it has a really fine nozzle, which is perfect for controlling how much product you use and the product itself is a nude shade which covers the eyelids perfectly.

And now onto the really exciting stuff!

There are two major things about this product that make me want to shout from the rooftops. Just like the reviews I’ve read have promised and Urban Decay claim, the intensity of colour and staying power are second to none!

Firstly, the intensity in which eyeshadow appears over the top of the primer is brilliant. As I swatched for you above, using shade ‘Busted’ from my Naked2 palette, the difference between the intensity of the colour without and with the primer is pretty incredible! So Urban Decay really got this part of their promise spot on! All my eyeshadow shades appear stronger and more vibrant. Fantastic!

The second thing and the most important and groundbreaking for me, is this primer really does stop your eyeshadow from creasing! And I mean at all, ever, for how ever long you wear it (well maybe not forever, or if you sleep in your makeup, but you get what I mean)! I must admit, I was a little skeptical about this claim, even after reading numerous positive blogger reviews, but now that I’ve tried it a number of times (and you can see for yourself in the above photo taken after 12 hours of wear), the shadow really doesn’t budge! This was a particularly light smokey eye day, but I promise that darker shadow looks have the same result. Nope, they’re not budging. I mean really, whatever genius came up with this formula needs a big kiss from me and probably every other person who’s tried it. It really is awesome!

I am so, so impressed with this eye primer, that I don’t think I can praise it enough. There is nothing worse than starting the day with a perfect smokey and ending it with a creasy, smudgy mess. Thankfully, thanks to Urban Decay, those days are long gone for me!

Have you tried the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion yet? Are you toying with whether to spend the money? If you are, I say buy it. You won’t look back (or creased)!!

I never thought primers would make much difference to the actual shadow pay off but I guess they do! I might have to invest :)
