I’ve recently discovered a brand called Ponds Institute and a couple of their products. You may be thinking that the brand ‘Ponds’ rings a bell and it very likely does. The iconic Pond’s brand has recently been re-branded as ‘Pond’s Institute’ in the UK and maintains its professional and affordable brand image. A great little illustration of Ponds’ history can be found here, which I found super interesting!
In this post today I thought I’d tell you about the Cold Cream Cleaner. So how many ways do you use your current cleanser? One, maybe two? For me I’ve always just used my cleanser to remove my makeup and maybe if I can’t find my usual moisturiser, I might use it to moisturise on occasion.
With the Ponds Institute Cold Cream Cleanser there are in fact six fantastic uses! Over the last few weeks I’ve tried each of these and thought I’d share my thoughts with you. For just £4.99 from here, if all six check out, this Cold Cream Cleanser could be the best beauty buy EVER!
What Pond’s Institute Say
‘The Cold Cream Cleanser cleanses the skin deep down without drying it and leaves your skin perfectly clean. The deep cleansing action removes hidden dirt and make up, even stubborn waterproof mascara. Its special blend of ingredients softens the skin as they deep cleanse so your complexion feels smooth – never tight or dry.’
So here’s what I thought:
This was the first thing I tried and I have to say that for removing makeup and making my skin feel super clean, this was perfect. The best way I found to use it was to apply to the face, rubbing in all over and then spray water onto large cotton pads and remove. This left my skin feeling really clean and fresh.
For me, this cream is too thick to use as a moisturiser. It makes my skin feel a bit ‘thick’ if that makes any sense. I think my skin is quite well self moisturised so many moisturisers make my skin feel the same, so this one is no different. For those with dryer skin though, I can see this being a god sent little pot of moisture!
As a face mask, as supposed to a leave on moisturiser, Ponds Institute Cold Cream is perfect. I applied this as a mask all over my face and left for 10-15 minutes and then removed in the same way that I do using it as a cleanser, with wet cotton wool pads. My skin felt really smooth and fresh afterwards and smelt gorgeous too!
For a hand cream, this is perfect as well. My hands tend to be quite dry all year, not just in the winter months and I’m forever applying cream. This is great. It moisturises well and doesn’t leave my hands feeling greasy. A perfect pot to pop in your handbag.
This was the biggest surprise to me when I heard that this cream had six great uses. A highlighter? Really? So I’ve tried this and have to say that yes, it does highlight the cheekbones pretty well! I’m not really one for using highlighter. I’ve not really got into contouring and highlighting as I just don’t have the time day to day and I find it hard to make it look natural enough for day time too. So I thought I’d try this cream across the tops of my cheekbones and it looked really natural and pretty. Very impressed. You should give it a go!
This is a great little trick too. I usually use hairspray, sprayed onto an eyelash brush comb and combed over my brows to set them in place, but a little of the cold cream brushed through my eyebrows does pretty much the same thing too. Although it does make them look a bit greasier and if you have added colour to your eyebrows, you have to be careful that you don’t wipe the colour away. Having said that though, it’s a genius idea and perfect if you forget your hairspray (heaven forbid)!
Well, who knew one little pot could have so many fabulous uses! Have you been as surprised as I was?
