Planning a move to a new home inevitably gets the interior design cogs churning in most of us. The thought of moving into a new home is so exciting and more often than not, it’s at this time that we start to re-think the interiors we’ve been living with over recent years and thinking of ways to update them and maybe even overhaul certain rooms of décor completely when we settle in our new surroundings.
We’re in the process of moving home and despite only having been in our current house for three years and therefore having only redesigned our main bedroom less than three years ago, a new move feels to me like a great opportunity to refresh it’s look and whilst I love duck egg blue and our Meadowsweet wallpaper, I’ve always fancied a grey and white theme. It seems so clean and fresh.
Upon finding this Yorkshire Linen Grey Duvet Set, Versailles, which I absolutely love, I thought this would create the great basis for a new look room. We already have some white furniture in our bedroom including these gorgeous Sphere Bedside Tables and a gorgeous white shabby chic style dressing table, so together with these, I have created a little look book of how I envisage our new master looking.
Scatter Cushion Heaven
Cushions, cushions, cushions. You can’t have a comfy and stylish king size bed without a load of scatter cushions. All of which my husband thinks are a waste of time, as admittedly I do spend half my life taking them off the bed and rearranging them on the bed in the morning. But still, I love cushions and so we will HAVE to have some new ones for this design. I’ve found a number of white and off white cushions that I love, including this fab ‘Good Morning Gorgeous’ style, which I just think is adorable!
Shedding Light on the Situation
Another massively important aspect in a bedroom for me is matching bedside table lamps. I’ve been toying with the idea of having wall mounted lights this time, but after seeing these really cool grey lamps, which are slender and tall, I think I’ll be sticking to something along these lines. I like a bedside lamp to be tall so that there is room for a clock, photo frame, maybe a plant and other bits and bobs (yes quite a lot to fit on one beside table), so these seem perfect. And pretty stylish too don’t you think?
As with most couples, my husband and I’s temperatures are never the same, so I always like to have a throw to hand that I can fling over myself when I feel chilly in the winter. This gorgeous braided throw is perfect for this look. It’s off white, looks super snuggle and I think will look beautiful across the bottom of the bed.
Dressing Table Glamour
I bought my dressing table a couple of years ago and it’s white, with a glass top and shabby chic style bendy legs and two little drawers with glass knobs. I love it so much and will definitely be keeping it in my new design.
The stool we bought for it though has not survived the test of time. I thought at the time that getting a stool with storage inside would be genius and for the most part it has been, but the gems that secure the cushion have one by one popped off and the lid hinge broke within months of using it. Fail! So this time I’d like to get a chair along these lines, aptly named ‘Versailles’ too. I think this will really set the dressing table off perfectly.
