With the bank holiday now within sniffing distance, I thought I’d share with you my May bank holiday musts, that is in terms of what I make sure I’ve got to hand when a bank holiday approaches and as a family we plan to get outside and do something together.
The weather in the UK is always unpredictable and here in ‘sunny’ Cornwall it always seems to be ever more so on a bank holiday, so my most important item and therefore top of my must haves is a good waterproof jacket. There’s nothing worse than having travelled to the coast or into the woods for a lovely walk but to find that the blue skies have cleared and it’s now chucking it down. This lemon waterproof hooded jacket from Joules would be the perfect solution and I’m loving yellow this year, especially in waterproofs. It feels old school and I love it!
Because the weather is so random at this time of year, if I’m out for the day I do like to make sure I’m either wearing a pair of sandals or I’ve certainly packed them in the car. There’s nothing worse than you’re feet over heating; and I’ve experienced that a couple times this year already, but no more!I’ve got these lovely beaded sandals from New Look but not it this pretty coral colour but stone. These are great as they’re leather, so allow your feel to breathe. Hallelujah!
Another must is a pair of sunglasses. Leaving the house on a bank holiday without some is an absolute no no. These Ray Ban Classic Clubmasters are really lovely. I’ve got some classic wayfarer’s and various other pairs but really like these. I’ve seen a few bloggers and celebrities wearing this style and would really like to get some.
If you’re anything like me and when out and about like to have a coffee to hand, taking a travel mug with you is such a great idea. Made from ceramic with a silicone lid, these mugs are perfect for keeping your drinks hot on the go. They look really pretty too!
I think you can pick up cute travel mugs in most diy stores and I think I even saw them in a large tesco, so I’m going to definitely pick one up this weekend. Buying coffee all the time can get so expensive. This way we can save the money and spend it on ice cream instead!
Finally a vital must is a good size bag to carry all of your essentials. I especially like back packs at the moment and especially the range from Accessorize like this Eva Mirror backpack. So cute and totally practical. I remember having a rug pattern back pack when I was at school. Not sure if they were fashionable then, but I really wish I’d kept it!
So if you’re out and about this weekend, make sure you’ve got these few essentials and together with some sun cream (incase the weather turns hot, yeh right), you’ll be prepared for anything!
Happy May Bank Holiday all!
