It’s that time of year when we’re all starting to think about adding some lighter, brighter fabrics into our wardrobe and this transitional phase of Spring into Summer can be notoriously tricky; do I go bare legged?, will I be warm enough?, do I need a jacket?!
So whilst we all ponder over what to wear ‘right now’, I thought I’d share with you a few summer florals that I can’t wait to add to my wardrobe this Summer; for occasion, everyday and playful beach holiday looks.
All Dressed Up
When it comes to Spring and Summer and any formal events, it’s nice to consider light shades, pastels or maybe even florals for an outfit. If I’m invited to a wedding or christening at this time of year I can’t wait to see what gorgeous dresses are available and one of my favourite styles right now is fitted and feminine.
This Cream Flower Print Bardot dress from Quiz is so pretty and fits this brief perfectly. The style is off the shoulder, bandage and has a cute watercolour floral print all over; the perfect dress for a Spring/Summer occasion.
I really like the over lapping hem line with ruching across the hip, so flattering. As summer wedding going out dresses go, I’d say this is a knock out! Stunning during the day with a hat and bag but equally gorgeous come the evening reception, with plenty of forgiveness for a large meal and some shapes being thrown on the dance floor!
Teeny Tiny Style Tip: Worn with nude heeled sandals, like these High Five heels from ASOS, this dress will be perfect for a wedding or outdoor event this summer. Adding a chained mini handbag or an oversize nude clutch will add some extra glam and enable you to carry those beauty essentials, oh and your phone for those wedding selfies!
Sunny Summer Day Wear
Warm, sunny days require florals in abundance and when a floral print is applied on a coloured background, like on this Zara Long Wrap around skirt, the effect can be really stunning.
I love the brick shade of this skirt with it’s clusters of predominantly cream flowers; so classy and yet flirty too.
Because of the wrap style of this maxi skirt, it is again really flattering. Unfortunately for me, probably really unpractical in the Cornish weather; I’d spend the whole day holding it closed (for fear of doing a Marilyn)! Practicalities aside however, it’s a beaut; perfect in my opinion for warm work days or summers days out.
Teeny Tiny Style Tip: I can see this skirt totally rocking this summer with a large floppy hat, like this Goddess Border floppy hat from Accessorize; so romantic! If you do buy this skirt, make sure you run through a meadow full of corn, being playfully chased by a tall, dark and handsome admirer, preferably as the sun’s starting to set. Sorry, I’ve clearly watched far too many movies!
Playful & Pretty
Whether venturing through the narrow, cobbled streets of a sleepy fishing village in a hot, sticky summer holiday location or dancing the night away with cocktails in hand after a day on the beach, I think play-suits and co-ord’s are a go to trend we’ll all be sporting this summer.
I am seriously loving this style at the moment and have to admit that it’s something that a few years ago I would have never considered wearing, but right now, with a little weight shifted and trouble areas tightened (thanks to Kayla!) this Bardot Floral Print Bardot co-ord from In The Style is right up my (cobbled) street!
I have always loved the white and blue combination and have seen various sets like this over recent summers but this so far my favourite. The paisley summer florals design is so cute and flirty.
With so much versatility to this co-ord, the next time I book a holiday I’ll be sure to pack one or two of these sets. Wearing the pieces individually gives you even more styling choices, so well worth a buy.
Teeny Tiny Style Tip: An outfit like this can be dressed down for days on the beach with flip flops, large sunglasses (how amazing are these Kooky Oversize Round sunglasses from Topshop btw!) and a beach bag or dressed up for evenings on holiday with some sparkly sandals and a cute clutch.
I hope you like my floral picks for three very different occasions. Which one is your favourite? Are there any summer florals that have caught your eye so far this season?
