Now that the weather is finally warmer it’s got me thinking about what pieces need refreshing in my wardrobe and which existing items I could team up with a couple of new ones to give them a new lease of life and more importantly, make me start to feel super summery.
I’ve always loved the idea of wearing ankle boots with summer florals but it’s not until just recently when I’ve had the right ankle boots and the right floral dress that I’ve really been able to explore this trend. Also, having been working out in the gym a lot so far this year, I’m much more confident in wearing such trends, when before I would have felt my legs were too chunky; the usual girlie insecurities!
So today I thought I’d share with you a look I styled a few days ago, mixing a gorgeous, flirty wrap dress, with a cropped denim jacket and the sweetest ankle boots. Some pieces old and some new.
These studded ankle boots were such an amazing find. They’re the perfect colour for this time of year in grey/sandy suede and I knew straight away that they would have so much versatility for the summer months; like here, worn with a floaty dress but also looking equally great on those typically cooler summer days with skinny jeans.
I love the studded detail across the top of these boots, and the tassels at the back which are so me! Having chatted about the fringe bags I’m loving just recently, this look is right up my street; made for me!
This pretty floral wrap dress is the perfect colourings for these ankle boots. I love the soft, watercolour’esque pattern and the wrap detail with the plunge neckline and frills works perfectly to create a western-inspired look. Perfect for these studded western-inspired boots!
Together with the dress and ankle boots I chose to wear this cute denim jacket which I bought at the end of last summer, so didn’t have a great deal of wear. This jacket is perfect for wearing with high waisted dresses like this one. I love the combination of suede and denim too – both chunky, heavy fabrics, with the light, floaty fabric of the viscose dress. So girlie yet strong at the same time!
To top of this look I wore Summer Holiday pink nail polish, which really picks up the darker pinks in the dress pattern and finished the look perfectly.
What do you think about this look? Now that I’ve got these gorgeous boots I just know that I’ll be styling them with dresses a lot this summer. For example I’ve just picked up this cute khaki green shirt dress that I’m thinking would look great too. Maybe tomorrow’s outfit!
